Wine Country creations create perfectly imperfect platters made from French oak wine barrels.

Much like you have your own personality and quirks, our “creations” do too.  We don’t call them products.  Ours are individually-made “works of art” with their own particular character.  WE call it “perfectly imperfect” – different shades, wine colourations, textures…that give each one it's “special magic.”

We're Richie and George - the Wairarapa based father and son team behind Saxon Archery.

Navigating the world of archery can be daunting, especially for those just starting out. Our commitment at Saxon Archery is therefore to maintain a small, focused business dedicated to providing high quality products for beginner and intermediate archers, at prices that are reasonable and fair. The majority of our bows we sell are made in Hungary or Germany by expert bowyers, and if we don't have your bow in stock we can build or arrange for a custom wood and draw weight to be built specifically for your preference.

We also invite local archers, including complete beginners, to come and try out our bows on our range in the Wairarapa.

When not working, George can be found in his workshop in Masterton building English longbows, repairing arrows, and shooting his large collection of bows on the range.

When not joining George on a shoot, Richie can be found working as an analyst in Wellington, or hosting archery events during his spare time.

If you have any questions about archery, whether that be some advice on how to get started, or even on where to find local archery clubs in your area then please send us an email at This email address is being protected from spambots. Forget mass produced, choose one of these unique table lamps that combine edgy industrial materials with lovngly crafted reclaimed timber - much of it over 100 years old.

Handcrafted by JB from Shades at Grays, they provide statement lighting to enhance your room and create a beautiful ambiance.

See the range but be quick - they sell faster than JB can make them!

Each lamp is unique. Many of the pieces have been created from wharf timber, reclaimed and recycled following restoration work on the Petone and Eastbourne wharves in Wellington Harbour. The timber is Australian Jarrah, imported and used along with other Australian hardwoods in late nineteenth century New Zealand for commercial and industrial construction.

Other pieces are crafted from jarrah telegraph poles and beautiful totara fence posts. Each has its own history and each lamp comes with its own written story.

The history of the timber has been retained by incorporating construction elements, bolt holes and surface marks while still exposing and polishing the beautiful end grain. Natural beeswax is used to polish the wood and any ironwork.

A new addition to the series is the Edison wood planes that have been rescued from dark, dusty places of retirement and brought back to life to create functional art. These carpenters' tools reveal the history of their manufacturer - often from 17th and 18th century Europe - in the brand still clearly etched on the cutting blade.

Prices vary, starting at $165.

The look-alike vintage Edison bulb has a life of about 1500 hours. Each lamp has a long lead with an in-line switch and has been independently tagged and tested to ensure electrical safety.

They come with a felt pad on the base to protect any surface you choose to put it on.

Free pick up is available from Greytown or Plimmerton, Wellington. Nationwide shipping is available, with a $5 flat delivery fee for the Wellington area.
